The all-new Forester is a little bigger and a litter better than its predecessor. It’s also a little more stylish, and it has a more mainstream appeal that has already translated into brisk sales. Inside and out the design is clean and simple. The interior also features excellent materials that give the Forester an upscale look and feel.

Behind the wheel, drivers will notice competent ride and handling. Handling is aided by the boxer engine which has a lower center of gravity than a typical V6 engine. The 2.5-liter engine offers plenty of power, but the available turbo-charged version is simply a blast.

Fuel mileage for the base 170-horsepower 2.5-liter engine is 20 miles per gallon in the city and 27 mpg on the highway according to Boise Subaru, which has seen plenty of demand in recent months for fuel-efficient models. These figures are impressive considering that the Forester, like all Subarus, comes standard with all-wheel drive. Pricing for the latest generation Forester begins at $20,295, which Worcester Subaru says is priced right in this competitive segment.

What really stands out about the latest generation Subaru Forester is that it’s far more grown-up. It has become less of a wagon and more of a bona fide crossover, offers plenty of versatility, but it still retains the car-like qualities that helped the Forester stand out from the crowd.
